R.E.A.C.H. – Rural Engagement for Active and Climate-resilient Highlands

The primary target group consists of young people aged 16–25 living in Karayazı and other rural and mountainous communities involved in the project. Particular attention will be given to young people who have limited access to international mobility, youth participation opportunities, outdoor and social activities due to geographical isolation, limited transport options, socio-economic constraints and fewer local opportunities. Many participants are expected to come from villages or remote settlements where distance, seasonal weather conditions and limited public transport can restrict access to youth activities and decision-making processes. The project will therefore prioritise young people who are less likely to participate in international or civic activities through their own resources. Support will include clear pre-departure information, individual guidance, mentoring by youth workers, support with travel planning and documentation, accessible and low-cost participation arrangements, and additional assistance where transport from remote settlements is required. Activities will be designed in an inclusive and non-formal way, with small-group work, peer support and sufficient preparation so that participants with little or no previous international experience can participate confidently. Where needed, partners will also provide additional organisational or personal support based on the specific situation of individual participants. The aim is not only to remove barriers to participation in the project, but also to enable these young people to take an active role in consultations, dialogue with decision-makers and the development of local policy recommendations.
