Quest for Education in rural community Kenya

YIDP work in one of the poorest parts of Kenya Homabay County, Kadongo, focusing on education for all. We work with a primary school, sunrise pedagogical academy which has enrolled more than 400 vulnerable pupils. Without a good basic education, poor rural children have little chance of escaping a life of extreme poverty. Our students not only survive but are thriving! Female students need girls mentoring to stay in school, so girls mentoring is needed. Scholarships are needed for secondary school as well, as poor families cannot afford to send their kids. Nearby poor schools are also assisted, so more children can succeed.

Children mentoring helps keep children in school, which improves their futures. By providing top quality primary school, children can get into secondary school, and have a chance to succeed in life. This has a spread affect and helps their families and communities as well.

Having various paths to success and well rounded education for young people in rural Kenya gives youth areal chance to succeed and to break the crushing cycle of extreme poverty, and to lift up their families and communities as well.
