Possibilities of film-based education projects at a European level.

In the past 10 years our organization has developed a film based non-formal educational practice model dedicated to young people (age 14-18) called My First Documentary Film Workshop. We have successfully implemented 25 projects centered on this method throughout different communities around Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The workshops introduce teenagers to the world of documentary film-making while encouraging their engagement in the everyday realities of their communities and a critical perspective of their immediate universe.

The quantifiable outcomes are: 273 participants, 209 short documentary films in 11 locations.

Our current focus is to further develop our practice and explore the possibilities of film-based education projects at a European level. Cultural education programs and especially those focused on film are only emerging in Romania. We have identified an acute need to cooperate with other European organizations that have carried out or are interested in implementing film-based educational youth projects. We are seeking partners with whom to create an educational digital platform that will serve as a resource for film festival organizers, media education projects or any organization interested in using media in non-formal education and artistic expression.
