Play your symphony

In the youth exchange project "Play your symphony" we will discuss the complex ideas and perspectives of identity and creatively process these ideas into a theatre play combined with music and poetry.
In the summer of 2024, from the 8th to the 19th of July, we will host this project at the House Across Borders, also known as Huis Over Grenzen. The house acts as an educational centre as well as a group accommodation, located next to one of the largest German war cemeteries in Western Europe. Our house educates young people about peace and remembrance, the suffering hatred causes, and the tranquillity peace brings.
As mentioned before, our main theme is going to be Identity, especially comparing the past with the present. What is identity? What has shaped identity in the past compared to now? What does it mean in the context of a community? What does it mean during war? What is your identity? By going into depth, we'll discover new ideas and views and relate them to the history of the world wars and the history of the cemetery.
Then you'll turn these constructs into a real theatre play! You will be able to create your own play. The script, the costumes, the set, and the music are all up to you. You will, of course, be accompanied on this journey by us and a few professionals. It's going to be a project full of fun and laughter, but also of discovery and creativity.
We welcome people from all over Europe. Through this exchange you'll meet people from different cultures, learn from each other and gain new perspectives. It is important to experience cultural exchange and what it means to live together in a community. We look forward to welcoming everyone who'd like to join us!
