Plastikten Arınmış Turizm: Gençlerle Sürdürülebilir Bir Gelecek

A pilot initiative focused on sustainable tourism, where young people transform plastic waste into artworks and raise awareness through a project website.

This innovative youth project aims to support sustainable tourism in Alanya and contribute to the reduction of plastic pollution, in line with the European Union’s priorities on environmental sustainability, youth empowerment and active citizenship. The project particularly seeks to raise awareness at the local level and encourage behavioural change by drawing attention to the negative impacts of plastic waste on the environment and ecosystems, especially in areas with intensive tourism activities.

Within the scope of the project, young people will be involved in creative production processes by transforming plastic waste into artworks, while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills related to environmental issues. This art-based approach will enable environmental messages to be communicated in a more visible and effective way, allowing young people to take an active role at both individual and societal levels.

The artworks produced and project outputs will be shared through a multilingual project website, increasing the project’s visibility and ensuring dissemination at national and international levels. In addition, poster campaigns, open-air exhibitions, workshops and face-to-face awareness-raising activities targeting tourists and the local community will be organised to enhance awareness of sustainable tourism and the reduction of plastic pollution.

Throughout the project, the active participation of young people in the planning, implementation and evaluation phases will be supported, aiming to develop participants’ social, digital and citizenship competences. By the end of the project, it is expected to promote the spread of environmentally friendly behaviours within the local community, take concrete steps towards reducing plastic waste consumption, and create a lasting impact in line with the European Green Deal, sustainable development goals and Erasmus+ youth policies.
