Handicrafts such as - needlework, lace making, weaving, printed textiles, ornamental working, woodworking, basketry, pottery, leatherworking, stained glass making etc. - have a traditional value which holds the indigenous ethnicity of a particular region. The skills to produce those products has continued to flow from generation to generation. Though in the modern world, the industrial production has taken over the market still it has the popularity.

In Sirnak handicrafts products are many and distinct from each other. From Cizre to Beytussebap handicrafts products of Sirnak are distinctly different from each other. In Cizre Province there are more than 30 types of traditional handmade crafts that the women producers use different techniques which haven’t been used in any other region. Women do not have effective marketing skills and strategies to reach inquisitive consumers to sell their traditional handmade crafts such as carpets, handlooms, woollen and silk coverings, jewellery and so on.

"One general problem that we face in studying this sector is the fact that there is really no separate product classification for handicraft. Because there is no universally accepted definition of the term "handicrafts", it has been used to refer to a very wide range of items,
including a broad spectrum of "gift items", houseware, home furnishings, products of craft
industries, and fashion accessories‟
