HOMING – Youth work for young people who arrive, return and want to stay

Actina (Xanthi, Greece) is building a partnership around a simple gap: young people arrive or return to European towns and cities all the time, and almost nothing in local youth work is designed to receive them. Youth centres are built for the young people who never left, not for the ones who just showed up.

HOMING will develop and pilot a practical, transferable method for local youth organisations to welcome young arrivals and returners and help them actually stay: a short local research phase, a hands-on welcome event, light peer support pairs, a trained "Welcome Worker" role, and a small toolkit and welcome point that stay open after the project ends.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for two organisations, one from anywhere in Europe, with at least one of the three partner communities being rural, island or peripheral. We are not selecting by country or by type of place. We are selecting by fit. A good partner:

-has a genuine mandate in youth work, social inclusion, or both
-is already known and used by young people in its own community, not just working toward that
-already has access to young people who arrived or returned in the last three years
-has its own premises, or reliable continuous access to a space, to host a welcome point and run a two-day lab
-is willing to commit, before submission, to keeping the welcome point open after the project

Organisations new to Erasmus+ are very welcome. Actina provides administrative and financial support to the coordinating partner, so limited prior grant-management experience is not a barrier. The coordinator role itself is open and will be agreed jointly during the design phase.

This probably is not the right fit if your involvement would be dissemination or evaluation from a distance, if you work only with children or only in formal education, or if you cannot commit to keeping a welcome point running once the funding ends.

NEXT STEPS
If your organisation is rooted in a community that both loses and gains young people, and you can genuinely say "we know this community, and this community wants to do this with us," get in touch. We are preparing for the 2026/2027 KA210-YOU round and want to agree the design and the partner commitments together, well ahead of the deadline.
