Participatory Schools 4 Better Democracy

The Network of Democratic Citizenship Schools, is preparing a new Strategic Partnership in the Field of School Education (KA201) named Participatory Schools 4 Better Democracy, to be implemented between September 2018 and August 2021, aiming at a) promote democracy and active citizenship, especially among young people and b) transform schools into more democratic and participative spaces.

The Network of Democratic Citizenship Schools, is an informal network involving schools and civil society organisations from Portugal, Poland and Slovenia, created during an ERASMUS+ project with the same name, implemented between 2015 and 2017, selected as a best practice. The main result of this first project of the Network was a methodology and tools to assess and promote the active participation of the school actors (students, teachers, parents and staff) in the decision-making processes regarding learning, governance and relations with the community in an inclusive matter. One of this tools, the Scale of Reference for Participatory Citizenship Schools was published in the School Education Gateway last month (check it in www.democraticschool.ecos.pt).

We are currently looking for partners from EU member countries (other than Portugal, Poland and Slovenia).
