Pale Blue DOT

Pale Blue Dot is Youth Workers training course, touching the topics of discrimination, migration, human rights and social inclusion in modern world.

In the rapidly changing modern world, hatred and discrimination can spread its wings at an unimaginably fast pace. In light of the recent events in Europe, namely the migration crisis and its ramifications for it, it has become an arduous task to make sure all human beings have the same rights and they are treated evenly without discrimination and hatred. Though the EU has made strides towards creating a safe, prosperous space for all, in Union and neighbouring countries alike, Europe still faces challenges.
4 out of 10 (38%) felt discriminated against because of ethnic or immigrant background, skin colour or religion in daily life as is shown in the EU-MIDIS II survey. Moreover “ethnic or immigrant background emerges as the most common ground for discrimination – experienced by every fourth respondent (25%). Respondents with North African, Sub-Saharan African background and Roma people continue to indicate the highest levels of discrimination based on the ethnic or immigrant background (45%, 39%, and 41% respectively)
Situation is even worse in non-EU countries, take Georgia – to the question asked in the CoE survey “Whether you approve or disapprove of people like you doing business with an LGBT people” 70 % said No and to the same question about Jehovah Witnesses, 58% said No. A study on equality perceptions and attitudes carried out by UN shows that Moldova ranks 119th out of 155 countries examined in terms of tolerance and inclusion.

Objectives
Hence, our goal is to contribute to reducing the level of discrimination in 8 participant counties with participating organizations active involvement by:
1. Developing the specific knowledge of 24 youth workers, from 8 countries, during 7-day training course about modern-day discrimination to tackle intolerance and hatred on a daily basis in their workplace.
2. Identifying non-formal and novel means and tools for 7 days through which 24 youth workers and not only, can make awareness-raising campaigns in their countries
3. Exploring the idea of “Serious Gaming” during the 7-day training and equipping 24 youth workers with the Online Gaming tools related to Human rights and similar topics.
4. Enhancing the partnership among 4 EU and 4 non-EU member countries in the field of Civil society
5. Promoting E+ opportunities among 24 participants during the project and as a follow-up with their target group in their countries.
