Project description:
Scientific evidence shows that physical inactivity is a leading risk factor for ill-health, going well beyond issues related to weight control and influencing both physical and mental well-being. Over the past few years, the promotion of physical activity has increasingly been recognized in Europe as a priority for public health, and many countries have responded through the development of policies and interventions.
The project aims to transform educational practices, moving from frequent indoor activities to regular use of the outdoor environment. In this project, we present the main dimensions related to outdoor activities and highlight the role of professionals and educators in creating quality outdoor play opportunities. The proposed methodology will contain 3 three main categories: the physical environment, the social environment and the experience of physical activity. To make this whole experience to be even more interested in the young people we will use the art of storytelling to inspire deep nature connection and parts of improv theatre methodology. By avoiding the dreaded pencil and paper brainstorming of ideas, storytelling in nature follows the Waldorf tradition of oral storytelling to ignite imaginative thinking, and support the ability to see a story in one’s own mind.
The biggest challenge is to create a youth-friendly program that will engage young people and at the same time will guide them through 30 days challenge. Young people are also going to play a really important role in the project. They will have a chance to work on the handbook proposals and the more points they are able to address, the better the chance they have of making this project and the results more youth-friendly.
