Opportunities for Integrating Contemporary Communication Channels and New Media into Non-Formal Learning

In the time of incredibly fast developing information and communication technologies, the heyday of electronic media of a new generation, flexible and all-embracing social networks and innovative personal communication devices, a great part of the cognitive activity of the youth is realized digitally. Contemporary means of communication play a key role in current forms of non-formal learning. They play the part of perfect electronic tools organizing the process of cognition meanwhile being the grounds for a rich interactive and multimedia base of free-access educational resources. The purpose of the present project proposal is to support youth workers as trainers in non-formal learning by means of improvement of their digital literacy.
Activities:
We have prepared a syllabus in which, via interactive presentations, rich lecture materials and interesting practical exercises, participants will be acquainted with the opportunities and various functionalities offered by social networks, mobile applications, interactive multimedia formats, Internet applications for video sharing and other electronic tools for organization and management of non-formal learning options.
During the course of training participants will be given the chance to exchange experience and information regarding the opportunities offered by new technologies and their use in the process of non-formal training. The best practices of the projects participant will be shared and discussed.
Besides the activities covered by the syllabus, the other objectives of youth mobility will be realized – intercultural dialogue, solidarity to common objectives and challenges for youth workers in non-formal learning. Familiarizing with the conditions of the Erasmus+ Programme and the opportunities for realization of projects focusing on non-formal learning.
Expected results:
As a result of the project, the youth workers will improve the level of their digital literacy whilst exchanging experience and acquainting with the good practices of their colleagues from other countries in order to be able to satisfy the growing knowledge needs of the youth they work with. Each of the youth workers participating in the project will be given validation of the acquired knowledge and skills via „Youthpass”.
