On the road

Through the project activities youth workers are supported in the development and sharing of effective methods to involve marginalized young people. OnDEroad project finds inspiration in outdoor education and in “mountain therapy” which, in the Italian context, brings together a multitude of experiences in which the mountains and more generally walking are the background, setting, for the education intentions. This kind of experience can be partially assimilated to what is described in the literature with the terms “outdoor education”, “outdoor adventure education” and “socio-pedagogical walk” in the judicial field. In Italy studies has started in this direction but in relation to the quality of the perceived subjective experience in the context of psychiatric rehabilitation (Lanfranchi F., Frecchiami A., Delle Fave A., 2011). OnDEroad project intends to represent a specific psycho-educational intervention device that aims to significantly affect perceived self-efficacy, the recognition of one’s skills and the development of positive self-esteem. Our proposal for the key action 2 of the Erasmus+ Program, through the comparison and collection of good practices with other organizations that deal with “mountain therapy”, “outdoor education” and with positive psychology interventions with adolescents, has the purpose of creating guidelines that can respond to 3 specific objectives:
How to select the youngsters to involve in the activities (indicators and tools)
How to build the group (open/closed?) and the excursion (to create opportunities that connote themselves as a rewarding experience and personal growth, which positively affect individual well-being)
How to evaluate the effects of the project on participants and carry out follow-up
