Nil’in Izinde: 5-day Youth Exchange in Cairo on Egyptian civilisation, shared cultural heritage, focusing on inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.
Nil’in Izinde: Youth Egyptian Civilisation Journey is a 5-day youth mobility activity in Cairo, Egypt, designed for young people with fewer opportunities from Türkiye (rural and low socio-economic backgrounds, limited access to international experiences). The project focuses on cultural heritage, historical awareness and social inclusion through experiential and non-formal learning.
The programme combines on-site learning and reflection sessions. Participants will explore key heritage sites such as Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum, and Ottoman/Islamic heritage landmarks in Cairo including the Citadel and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, as well as Khan el-Khalili. Daily debriefings, learning diaries and group tasks will support critical thinking, intercultural dialogue and youth participation.
Main learning outcomes include: stronger historical and cultural awareness, improved communication and teamwork skills, higher self-confidence in international settings, and a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and shared heritage. Outputs will include photo/documentation, observation notes and short presentations to be disseminated through youth centres and local partners after the mobility.
We are looking for a host partner in Egypt (preferably Cairo) such as a youth organisation, youth centre, university unit or cultural heritage institution that can support local coordination, provide a venue for at least one session, and facilitate a short interaction with local youth and/or an expert/guide input.
