The Partner-Finding Tool
Project's main aim is improve social competences and attitudes of young people by utilizing the observational/critical thinking and dialogue elements of museums
As volunteers for the Musethos organization, it has been observed that some young people between the ages of 18 and 30 have fewer opportunities and awareness in terms of access to artistic activities, cultural events, and especially the museums which makes all these activities being available. Eliminating prejudices in young people from different socio-economic backgrounds and emphasizing their shared history and social capital accumulation, as well as shared technological tools and linguistic elements, are essential to ensure the development of young people in the field of culture and the spreading of these cultures. The “Night at the Museum” project includes activities to accentuate the importance of museums and museum assets, aims to alter the current behavior of museum visitors, raises awareness of accessibility opportunities for disadvantaged groups, and reduces stereotypes by providing cultural interaction and exchange platforms among young people.
The main objective of our project is to improve the social skills, abilities, and attitudes of young people by utilizing the observational, critical-thinking, design, and dialogue elements of the museums. Hence, contributing to the definition and protection of the values of cultural heritage, introducing the idea of multiculturalism to young people while initiating intercultural dialogue and establishing links with the forming youth network. Thus the young population develops to be more tolerant and unprejudiced towards different cultures.
Our project aims to meet the above objectives and includes various types of activities. One of these activities is the one related to Göbeklitepe. Göbeklitepe, the first temple complex in history discovered only a few decades ago, is described as the “zero point in history”. It broke records for physical and virtual museum visits during the pandemic in 2019. In May 2022, with 36 participants from 6 countries, there will be a program consists of seven days of activities and two days of the trip. Program implementation consists of activities within permanent and experiential learning supported through the utilization of non-formal learning methods. Starting with Göbeklitepe, our project attempts to highlight the importance of all museums in the universal cultural heritage.
