New poverties, wich opportunities

The project aims to raise awareness among young people about the new
poverty, the consequential social exclusion and needs that arise with
regard to this issues, through the comparison of the economic and
social situations after the European economic crisis and dialogue
between stakeholders about this type of problem. The aim is the
organization of a workshop for a period of 5 days (excluding travel
days), which will take place in Palermo from 14th to 19th February
2013, which will involve 20 participants from 10 European Union
countries, to discuss together causes (common and uncommon) that led
to the exponential growth of the number of people living in poverty.
Using a clear participatory methodology we will try to trace the root
causes of the problem, to draw up a proactive solution designed to
solve (or at least alleviate) the problem, for thinking globally and
act locally. During the meetings video and interviews will be made to
spread and to raise awareness on the issue, giving visibility and
prominence to the initiative.
