Nazism in Saarland, in Lorraine and Elsewhere

The project "Nazism in Saarland, in Lorraine and elsewhere" is a youth exchange project related to the duty of remembrance and Nazism in the countries concerned

There are many initiatives by young people and associations in France and Germany around questions of Nazism, extremism, the duty of remembrance, wars, etc. For example, there is in Saarbrücken, Germany the camp of the Neue Bremm Gestapo, where a memorial was created thanks to the work of young people from Landesjugenring Saar. In France, youth work camps have carried out repairs and signage for visitors to German and French trenches on the edge of the departments of Meurthe et Moselle and Meuse.

Thus, through this project, we wish a reflection around Nazism and the duty of rememberance and these actions with partners and young Europeans in the framework of a meeting of young people entering within the Erasmus + Youth program. Our research concerns public or private partners with these concerns, in territories that have hosted such camps (concentration, transit, extermination, etc.) who could accompany a group of young people from their territory in the preparation of the meeting, their participation as well as the exploitation of the results.

We are also considering the possibility of inviting the group of young people to local events organized by the partners in their respective countries.

The content of the project will be refined by all partners: site, activities, discovery, proposals for actions and tools, ETC. Possibility of organizing a preparatory visit (2 days, 1 adult and 1 young person per country)

The heart of the project will be the perception of young people of the reality of wars, Nazism, the period of apparent peace in Europe since the end of the Second World War, to confront cultural approaches around this question, to confront the risks involved through nationalism, the withdrawal of identity, community that we live and the consequences on Peace that we live in Europe.

They will be able to express themselves around the construction of tools and elements of communication, of sharing with other young people, of recommendations to maintain this state of Peace and friendly relations, in opposition to the relational state between peoples existing during the first half of the 20th century.

The partners sought:
European public or private groups, coming from areas where traces of the Nazi occupation remain, where reflections, research, efforts of memory are mixed in particular towards the younger generations, to prevent this from happening again. Partnerships established, twinning committees are invited to participate in this initiative.
Youth associations, educational structures, peace schools, communities and institutions leading such initiatives are concerned. Non-exhaustive list of course…
