Mosaics from the orient is an attempt to produce fused cultures that evoke new social values through applying music as a language of communication.
(Mosaics from the Orient) Program discerption: -
(Mosaics from the Orient) is a music exchange that celebrates musical collaboration and social engagement through innovative people-to-people diplomacy. Musicians (ages 19-35) from anywhere in the world. Come together for four weeks to collaboratively write, produce, and perform original music, and develop ways that music can make a positive impact on our local and global communities. More than a performance program, Kawon balances three principles: dialogue, creation, and social engagement to foster mutual understanding and cooperation among the participants, one unexpected musical piece at a time. begins with an opening residency at our youth house that includes a recording studio, when participants collaborate to create original material, record new musical ideas, and incubate their projects, participants then go on tour, performing in diverse locations around Jordan, collaborating with local musicians, and leading workshops with youth. During the month, each musician also sets out their plans for the future, developing projects in their home countries linked to a mutually-reinforcing network of music-driven social enterprises.
(Mosaics from the Orient ) is a musical journey like no other. It is a chance for adventurous musicians from an incredible diversity of traditions to seek common ground, create new musical combinations, push the boundaries of music technology, and find ways to involve all members of society in the process of musical creativity. Kawon endeavors to be the nexus of a new way of thinking about how music can help us collectively build healthy communities, prosperous societies, and a more peaceful world.
