Music connection

The idea of ​​this project is for each partner to prepare a work of their own (chosen by each country) and a common song (which we will choose among all) before coming to the Canary Islands.

The songs are related to mutual understanding, health, solidarity and peace. It is a polyphonic choral theme, but it is not necessary for the participants to be professionals in choral music at all. We do not even need to know music. The important thing is to be motivated and to dedicate a little time to prepare the own song and the common song, besides some activators, evaluations and practical workshops and that we will organize organized in mixed groups in gender and nationality. Some activities will be done with local community.

During the week of activities in the Canary Islands there will be some time for rehearsals, we will know the environment (emphasizing the development as a socio-economic engine), we will hold meetings with other choirs and local associations.

We will have contacts with refugees and organizations working with them, involving them in the project activities. We will also discuss the role of choral music for mutual understanding, solidarity and peace.

On the last day of the week of activities we will make a public representation of the songs of each partner and the common song. We propose as common song the Hymn of Europe (Ode to the joy):

Although this aspect is still debated today. For the common song we will count on the collaboration of a local choir, who will be able to offer an additional work of his repertoire in relation to the theme of the project.

Each group in its country can count on the collaboration of local choirs to assist in the preparation.

The overall aim of this project is to put choral music at the service of mutual understanding in the world in general and Europe in particular, as well as to offer a framework for debate towards solutions of progress for our countries where young people play a central role.
