Migration and Inclusion: Tolerance, Dialogue and Integration for Youth Workers’

“Migration & Inclusion: Tolerance, Dialogue and Integration for Youth Workers” is an Erasmus+ KA153 Training Course designed for youth workers who work with (or want to work with) migrants, refugees and diverse communities. The project aims to strengthen youth workers’ competences on migration, inclusion and intercultural dialogue so that they can create safer, more welcoming spaces for young people in their own organisations and communities.

The course will explore key concepts such as refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, integration, interculturality and multiculturalism. Participants will analyse push and pull factors of migration, reflect on the realities in each partner country and discuss the social, political and emotional dimensions of migration today. A strong focus will be placed on attitudes: tolerance, open-mindedness, empathy and respect towards people with a migrant or refugee background.

Using non-formal education methods, the programme will include interactive workshops, role-play and simulation exercises, forum theatre, art-based activities, communication and empathy trainings, and structured intercultural dialogue sessions. Peer education is at the heart of the project: participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences, challenges and good practices, and to co-create tools they can later use in their daily work with young people.

Main objectives include:

increasing youth workers’ knowledge and critical understanding of migration, refugees and integration processes;

challenging stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination through education and dialogue;

equipping participants with practical tools to support the social inclusion and well-being of migrants and refugees;

creating a platform to exchange successful integration strategies and local experiences;

inspiring follow-up initiatives and future Erasmus+ projects on migration and inclusion.

Throughout the course, participants’ needs and perspectives will be continuously collected through reflection groups, questionnaires and evaluation activities. These inputs will be used to adapt the programme in real time and to improve future activities. At the end of the project, participants will be invited to design simple local follow-up actions (workshops, awareness events, campaigns, etc.) to implement in their organisations or communities.

In the long term, the project aims to build an informal network of motivated and skilled youth workers who cooperate across countries, share resources and support each other in their work with migrants and refugees. By empowering youth workers with knowledge, skills and attitudes, the training course seeks to contribute to more inclusive youth work practices and, ultimately, to a more tolerant, understanding and cohesive European society.
