Migrants and youth workers – together for equality is an international training on the inclusion of migrants and other vulnerable groups into projects.
»Migrants and youth workers – together for equality« is an international training of youth workers and activists on the inclusion of migrants and other vulnerable groups into projects and other youth center activities. The main purpose of the training is to educate youth workers on the problems of migrations, introduce the methods and manner of work and establish trust between the youth worker and migrant, which serves to pave the way for their continued activity and improve their integration into society.
Young people will be able to use the knowledge and competences they have obtained in their daily life experiences, where they will be dealing with migrants at the workplace, and above all, they will be able to use their knowledge, methods and newly-obtained competences to spread examples of good practice to their environment after returning from the training. The participants will be exchanging, comparing and analyzing the problems of migrants and employment issues that the current migrants are facing, as well as developing a strategy, which could enable youth workers to include refugees and other vulnerable groups in their projects and youth work.
The training will be led by certified trainers, experienced in working with migrants and vulnerable groups, which will enable them to use youth work methods when discussing such a sensitive topic, encourage the migrants to think and direct them towards solutions that they will also be able to use and upgrade in their own environments. Throughout the activities, the participants will be able to strengthen intercultural dialogue and tolerance, and they will also have the opportunity of meeting migrants, currently living in Slovenia. This will provide them with a first-hand experience of migrant stories, which will serve as a basis for further training activities.
Estimated objectives and goals of the training are:
- Improving competences for working with vulnerable groups;
- Improving the participant’s competences for finding employment;
- Raising awareness on the problems that migrants face when finding employment;
- Qualification for working with migrants;
- Qualification for managing projects, which include vulnerable groups;
- Reducing the presumptions and stereotypes on the cultural differences between European citizens and refugees;
- Preparing activities for increasing tolerance, intercultural dialogue and the knowledge of refugee problems, which will enable easier integration into society;
- At the end of the training, each participant receives a Youthpass;
