MenhEUrs seeks to convert youth from rural communities into cultural entrepreneurs connected across Europe through the valorization of their heritage.
Much like its menhires, ancient monoliths scattered around Europe, the rural areas of Galicia, Brittanny and Ireland stand quite secluded and disconnected from sources of innovation and valorization. MenhEUrs seeks to convert young individuals from rural communities into entrepreneurs connected between one another across Europe through the valorization of the traditional landscape of their rural areas. Stemming from a common cultural panorama, that is rustical and folkloristic, MenhEUrs aims to empower rural youth to bridge geographical barriers by becoming an interconnected network of cultural entrepreneurs.
The project MenhEUrs complies with the ‘inclusion and diversity’ priority of the Erasmus+ program, bringing rural youth at the center of innovation by promoting their own cultural richness and diversity. Furthermore, the entrepreneurial aspect of the project is enhanced by the extensive digital training that the participants will undergo, thus converting them into self-sufficient agents of change.
The project comprises of four working packages:
- In the first phase the partners will travel to x location to receive the training needed to administer the following educational modules.
- In the second phase the partners will conduct a training in local rural schools with the participants. During this phase young entrepreneurs will (1) research significant landmarks in their areas, (2) be trained on crucial skills to become cultural entrepreneurs who promote their rural heritage. The output of this phase will be the creation of extensive itineraries.
- In the third phase the partners will conduct a training with the participants from local schools on digital skills. The output of this phase will be the creation of a web app that will host (1) a virtual portal of the MenhEUrs Network and (2) all the itineraries previously created.
- The fourth phase will be that of the beginning of the MenhEUrs itineraries. Participants from each MenhEUrs Point will conduct theatricalized group itineraries, where both locals and tourists will get the chance to participate upon scheduling via web app.
We are looking for two partner, possibly to rural schools in Ireland and Brittany, France. However, feel free to connect with us if you think this project could suit your area and target groups.
