MARte: a socio-cultural journey

MARte invites young artists to explore their maritime culture & use their creativity and skills to develop films/documentaries with the sea as the main theme.

MARte is a youth exchange taking place in Cascais (Portugal), organized by Youth4tomorrow. MARte is developed in a way that personal and professional development are merged, based on the idea that professional development is extremely related to personal improvement. MARte aims to conquer cultural and social limits with the power of communication through cinematography.

Thus, the mobility project MARte focuses on two axes:
- Cinematography is a successful way to transcend cultural and social limits: films can be seen as one of the mediums that overcome the barriers of communication, transmit-ting visual messages across the globe, prevailing over the boundaries of language and other cultural and ethnic differences.
- Experience accompanied with key competences and skills are absolutely necessary for entry-level jobs or even traineeships. Job openings in the film industry are limited and the youth unemployment rates for this market are high. Projects that help film students and graduates to develop their skills broaden their horizons into the labour market and individual production.

MARte will bring together young students and graduates, from countries with strong relation to the sea, aiming to explore their identity and culture, to share experiences and memories, to use their creativity and skills to develop films/documentaries with the sea as the main theme. The sea is a Universal force, one that many cultures relate to as one of the most important elements in their nation’s history.

Thanks to the power of communication and to the initiative of youth, MARte aims to:

- Favour intercultural awareness by transmitting cultural values to young people
- Develop skills of leadership, teamwork, collaboration and entrepreneurship
- Promote linguistic diversity and improve language skills
- Enhance the creativity, artistry and imagination of young artists
- Improve the level of key competences and skills for the film market

- Give the opportunity to forge new international friendships/possible collaborations
