The project is developing a VR training that enables young people to recognise racism and to deal with racist statements in everyday life.
Discriminatory behaviour and resentment are present in all parts of society. Even at school, we often experience forms of racism which are not based on malice but on unconscious ignorance of the meaning and consequences of racist acts.
With the project "VR against racism" we would like to develop an interactive 360-degree VR training for use in youth work and in school classes. We use the immersive effects of virtual reality to enable young people to recognise racism as such, offer training in dealing with racist statements in everyday life and enable young people to consciously confront racism.
With our project we want to strengthen empathy, intercultural skills and a deeper understanding of democracy and at the same time promote key competencies for Longlife Learning. The VR training complements existing anti-discrimination measures and can be flexibly integrated into youth work or school lessons in subjects such as ethics, politics or history. Youth organisations and schools will have access to modern technology without the need for major purchases and adaptations to the existing technical infrastructure.
Currently we are looking for youth organisations, schools and organizations in the area of anti-discrimination work, who are interested in (digital) anti-discrimination work and would like to participate in the project.
We are open for ideas and your contributions to the project.
