LOOK AT LIFE FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

"to strengthen video-game addicted high-school student’s relationships with social life by giving them training about photography"

There are two main purposes of this project. One of them is helping the video game addicted high school students to strengthen their ties with the real world by moving them away from the virtual world. To help them to gain social skills and to re-introduce them to the society by showing that they can get the pleasure which they get from computer games in real life with the various activities they could attend. The second purpose is developing intercultural relations and increasing tolerance to different cultures by getting the refugee and Turkish students together in the project and also the guests from abroad together.
There are going to be overall 40 people in this project; consisting of 10 Turkish high school students, 10 refugee high school students, 10 guests (attendances) and project team with 10 people in it.
Project implementation is going to start with information about the project, then training sessions about photography and conscious use of social media will stage on. After the training step, there is going to be a photoshoot with the video-game addicted high school students who got the training about photography to adapt them to social life. It was planned to do the photo shootings in several places of Eskişehir, Turkey such as Odunpazarı, Yazılıkaya, Sazova, Wax Museum, and Porsuk River regions. The photoshoots could focus on some specific topics related to struggling with addiction such as smoking, social media dependence or obesity. An internet page (weblog) will be created in order to ensure the sustainability of the project, to make game-addicted students in target audience feel sufficient and to reach more people living the same problem. The pictures taken in this project will be shared in this website. Later on, it will be organized a trip to Istanbul, during the trip, shootings will be continuing according to attendances wish. These events can be held in 5 separate groups of 8 people consisting of 4 people from the target audience, 2 people from guests and 2 people from the project team.
The expected outputs of the project are; to strengthen video-game addicted student’s relationships with social life in the target group, to improve their social skills, to increase intercultural interaction by bringing people of different nationalities together, to break down prejudices and gain different perspectives and helping the attendances to live an unforgettable experience that will be a great benefit to their lives.
