"Live in Harmony with Your Mind": Empowering youth with awareness and increasing their participation in physical activity.
This proposal addresses the Erasmus+ Call: Giving young people mindfulness training and encouraging them to move or act.
The "Live in Harmony with Your Mind" project is a mindfulness and well-being initiative designed to empower young people aged 18–30 to embrace mindfulness practices and lead fulfilling lives. Through a series of workshops, physical activities, and exchanges, participants will gain mindfulness techniques to regulate emotions, manage stress, and promote mental well-being. The project aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging social interaction and fostering a sense of belonging among diverse youth while supporting them to sustain physical activity.
Youth mobilizations play an important role in promoting self-awareness, aiming to promote appreciation of individual skills and strengths as well as raise awareness of relevant issues, thereby promoting inclusion and active participation in society.
Physical activity and mindfulness were positively associated with each other. The benefits of mindfulness can be categorized into three dimensions: emotional benefits, interpersonal benefits, and internal benefits. In order for all these benefits to be realized, people need to lead a social and active life of awareness. If we want to be aware of our own strength and achieve life satisfaction, we should not neglect physical activity, just as we should do awareness activities. Because mind and body are a whole, they support each other.
It is known that young people experience many mental problems in their daily lives. Lack of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle are the most important factors that trigger mental health problems. Moving away from an active and high-quality lifestyle brings many problems. This project aims to find solutions to similar problems and develop awareness programs to enable young people to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for better mental health, as well as increase their physical activity levels and ensure mental and body integrity. Atatürk's statement, "A healthy body is found in a healthy mind," has been the reason for this project.
This project will approach planning in a way that offers mindfulness and sports educators and youth opportunities to do awareness work, participate in physical activity, and discover themselves while doing all these things. The project aims to strengthen ties by organizing training and short-term exchanges with Erasmus+ countries in Europe to work with young people.
The project includes European students and young people with short-term exchanges and training courses to develop the participants' competencies in meditation, stress management, staying in the moment, knowing themselves, discovering their limitations and competencies, discovering and sustaining physical activities they enjoy, and most importantly, self-love and acceptance. We will plan a training program for facilitators and courses, activities, and exchanges about mindfulness and physical activity for young people aged 18–30.
Activities:
Training of change facilitators between young people and the necessary institutions to carry out the training.
Supporting facilitators to develop awareness-raising training programs about mindfulness and physical activity,
Supporting facilitators to develop camp programs that raise awareness about mindfulness and physical activity,
Implementation of online and face-to-face facilitated discussions among youth of youth organizations about mindfulness,
Supporting the increase of awareness activities locally
Local and international initiation of physical activity and mindfulness activities by young people.
Impact:
The "Live in Harmony with Your Mind" project aims to create a mindful generation of young people who positively influence their communities. By fostering self-awareness, emotional well-being, and physical health, the project strives to contribute to a healthier and happier society. Through the Erasmus+ exchanges, the project will facilitate international collaboration, fostering appreciation of individual skills and strengths while promoting inclusion and active participation in society.
"Live in Harmony with Your Mind" is a transformative project that seeks to empower young people with mindfulness practices and physical activity to lead fulfilling lives. By addressing mental health challenges, fostering social interaction, and promoting self-awareness, the project aims to leave a lasting impact on participants, inspiring them to embrace mindfulness for well-being and encouraging others to do the same. With the support of Erasmus+ exchanges, this project will create a network of mindful and socially active young people committed to making a positive difference in the world.
