Develop a European model for sports-based rehabilitation workshops for women who are victims of domestic and sexual violence
The goal via Erasmus + is to develop a European model for sports-based recovery workshops for women who are victims of violence based on what we are already doing in France. We are looking for organization that belongs to the WAVE Network (Women Against Violence Europe).
First, the project will focus on conducting a comprehensive assessment of sports-based reconstruction tools in Europe. This phase will combine quantitative and qualitative research with an evaluation of existing practices, thereby identifying the health and well-being indicators necessary for the scientific validation of the program.
The second phase will focus on developing a program of multidisciplinary workshops, co-created based on the expertise of UCPA and Solidarité femmes 13.
OBJECTIVES :
The main objective is to propose a transferable and standardized European model for sports-based rehabilitation workshops.
1. Holistic Rehabilitation: Promote physical and mental health through four annual sports cycles (e.g., sailing, rock climbing, horseback riding, boxing).
2. Development of Psychosocial Skills (Soft Skills): Identify and highlight acquired skills (self-confidence, stress management, teamwork)
3. Professional Re-engagement: Expand horizons through “inspiration” workshops (meetings with professionals, visits to iconic sites...).
4. European Innovation: Create a support protocol tailored to victims of violence, which is still rare in current scientific literature.
The program will be based on three sports pillars with complementary therapeutic benefits:
- outdoor and adventure sports to promote letting go and self-confidence
- team sports to rebuild social connections and cooperation;
- wellness sports to facilitate a gentle reconnection with one’s body image.
This methodological approach enables women to transform their trauma through movement, regain self-esteem and an essential “sense of agency,” while identifying the psychosocial and soft skills they engage during the program.
The program will be developed under the supervision of health and sports professionals, and the sessions will be led by certified facilitators specifically trained to work with victims of violence.
Based on the observations gathered during this pilot phase, a best-practices guide and an impact report will be produced. Developed in collaboration with all consortium members, these tools will respect the specific national contexts of each partner country while providing a common framework for intervention.
Finally, national and European conferences will be organized to raise public awareness and disseminate this social innovation approach throughout Europe.
