We have experienced the notion that students living in dormitories tend to be more socially adjusted and tend to participate more often in extracurricular and campus activities than students living off dormitories. Living in dormitories maximizes opportunities for students to become involved in social and extracurricular activities because they are placed in the center of activity (i.e., on school) and they are literally surrounded by their peers, and have easier access to faculty and staff. This involvement largely accounts for student growth and development, including a general increase in self-concept simply by exposure to other students and social events.

Social events and activities play a crucial role in strengthening students’ interpersonal communication skills and preparing them for life. Post- school activities for students staying at dormitories contribute to social, cultural, artistic and personal development of them through a series of student-led initiatives and events that help students gain and develop a valuable set of organizational skills, build their communication and team working competences, gain hands-on experience in all phases of project management; and expand their network in each project they undertake.

All in all, we plan to exchange our experiences and useful practices in this elusive area of social education with our partners. Due to the international aspect of our project, the activities implemented in dormitories of the partner schools will be multi-cultural and include and European dimension.
