KA152 Project: "Volunteers and Europe: Carrying Hope to Tomorrow"
Project Overview
Project Title: Volunteers and Europe: Carrying Hope to Tomorrow
Location: Adana, Türkiye
Duration: 6 days of activities + 2 travel days
Project Summary: Volunteers and Europe: Carrying Hope to Tomorrow
The "Volunteers and Europe: Carrying Hope to Tomorrow" project addresses the pressing need to foster active citizenship, solidarity, and social responsibility among young people across Europe. In a time when European values of unity, tolerance, and cooperation are increasingly challenged by social and political divides, this project aims to empower youth to take initiative in shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for Europe through volunteering.
Set to take place in Adana, Türkiye, over 6 activity days + 2 travel days, this project will bring together young participants from diverse backgrounds to explore the transformative power of volunteering in building resilient communities and promoting European values.
Needs Addressed:
Low participation rates in volunteering among young Europeans: Many young people are unaware of the opportunities and benefits associated with volunteering.
Social exclusion and lack of cohesion: Marginalized communities, including refugees and disadvantaged youth, often face barriers to integration.
European skepticism and declining civic engagement: A need to strengthen young people’s sense of belonging to the European Union.
Objectives:
Equip participants with knowledge and skills to actively engage in volunteering projects.
Raise awareness about the role of volunteering in promoting solidarity, inclusiveness, and European unity.
Encourage intercultural dialogue and cooperation among youth from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
Inspire young people to become ambassadors of volunteering in their local communities, fostering a multiplier effect.
Connection to Erasmus+ Program:
This project aligns closely with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Youth Program, particularly in promoting youth participation in democratic life, social inclusion, and European citizenship. Through non-formal education methods such as workshops, discussions, and collaborative activities, participants will develop key competencies that align with the Youthpass framework, including civic competence, cultural awareness, and social responsibility.
By fostering intercultural learning and inclusion, the project also supports the Erasmus+ priority of addressing social challenges like xenophobia, discrimination, and social exclusion. Additionally, its focus on volunteering contributes to the European Solidarity Corps’ mission of promoting solidarity and empowering young people to take meaningful action in their communities.
Expected Outcomes:
Participants gain a deeper understanding of volunteering as a tool for positive social change.
Strengthened intercultural ties and collaboration among European youth.
Increased visibility and awareness of European initiatives, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
This project aspires to create a ripple effect, where the empowered youth participants inspire their peers, building a more cohesive and hopeful Europe, one volunteer at a time.
