KA-220 HED: Advanced Food Safety and Sustainability Compliance: Empowering SMEs through HACCP and ISO Training

Training SMEs in food safety (HACCP, ISO) and sustainability to boost compliance, efficiency, and competitiveness in the European market

The "Advanced Food Safety and Sustainability Compliance" project, facilitated under the Erasmus+ KA220-HED framework, is strategically designed to establish effective collaborations between higher education institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout Europe. This initiative focuses on dual objectives: enhancing food waste reduction strategies and ensuring adherence to rigorous food safety standards such as HACCP and ISO.

Objectives:

Comprehensive Educational Modules: Develop and disseminate detailed training materials that encompass HACCP principles, ISO standards relevant to the food industry, and sustainable waste management practices.
Industry-Academia Partnerships: Leverage the expertise of academic scholars and industry practitioners to ensure the training is scientifically sound and pragmatically applicable, enhancing the practical skills of SME operators.
Practical Compliance Workshops: Conduct interactive workshops and seminars aimed at both introducing and deepening knowledge of food safety regulations, certification processes, and environmental sustainability techniques.
Impact and Outcomes:

Enhanced Compliance and Competitiveness: Equip SMEs with the knowledge to meet international food safety standards and adopt sustainable practices, thus improving their market access and compliance with European Union regulations.
Operational and Environmental Efficiency: Through targeted training, SMEs will optimize their operations to reduce waste and enhance food safety, leading to improved profitability and reduced environmental footprint.
Sustainable Knowledge Sharing: Establish a robust online platform and network that supports ongoing education and exchange of best practices in food safety and sustainability among European SMEs.
This initiative is intended to create a comprehensive educational framework that not only addresses the regulatory and operational needs of SMEs in the food sector but also fosters a culture of sustainability and compliance, positioning these enterprises at the forefront of global best practices in food safety and environmental stewardship.
