Sustainable Leadership in Youth Arts & Music

1. Project Overview
Youth Work Ireland, in partnership with its Danish hosting organisation based in Valborg, Denmark, is pleased to announce a call for participants for an Erasmus+ KA151 Youth Mobility training course taking place in Valborg, Denmark (1st - 4th of June 2026).
This international training will gather 25 youth workers and volunteers from Ireland and Denmark to strengthen sustainable leadership in youth arts provision, with a particular focus on arts-based youth engagement models such as the Irish Youth Music Awards (IYMAs).
The mobility is funded under the Erasmus+ Programme (KA151 – Youth Mobility) and supports professional development, cross-border cooperation, and innovation in youth work practice.
2. Aim of the Training
The overall aim of the training is to strengthen the capacity of youth workers involved in music and arts programmes to develop and implement sustainable, youth-led arts initiatives within their organisations and communities.
3. Objectives
The training will:
• Strengthen leadership competencies among youth workers delivering music and arts programmes
• Explore sustainable organisational and financial models for youth arts provision
• Enhance youth engagement through arts-based methodologies
• Facilitate exchange of best practices between Irish and Danish youth workers
• Support the continued development and sustainability of the IYMA model
• Build long-term cooperation between participating organisations
4. Target Group
This call is open to:
• Youth workers and volunteers actively involved in youth music or arts programmes
• Individuals engaged in the delivery or coordination of IYMA-related initiatives
• Practitioners interested in strengthening sustainable youth arts models
• Participants committed to sharing learning outcomes within their local organisation
Participants must:
• Be affiliated with Youth Work Ireland or partner structures
• Be able to participate fully in the training programme
• Be comfortable working in English in an international environment
5. Methodology
The training will use non-formal education methods, including:
• Experiential workshops
• Peer-learning sessions
• Collaborative leadership labs
• Sustainability planning exercises
• Arts-based and creative engagement tools
• Reflection and action planning sessions
Participants will co-create learning outcomes and develop practical implementation plans for their local context.
6. Financial Conditions
This project is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme (KA151 – Youth Mobility).
Under Erasmus+ regulations:
• Travel costs will be reimbursed according to Erasmus+ distance band rules
• Accommodation and meals will be fully covered for the duration of the training
• There is no participation fee
• Participants are required to attend the full programme and actively engage in all sessions
Further details regarding travel arrangements and reimbursement procedures will be shared with selected participants.
7. Participant Commitment
Selected participants are expected to:
• Attend and actively participate in all sessions
• Contribute to group discussions and peer learning
• Share learning outcomes within their local youth service
• Support dissemination of project results where appropriate
