INSIDEE Inclusion throught SustaInable Development and European Ecocitizenship

Strategic Partnership and exchenge of practices for Youth people with mental disabilities in non-formal education for sustainable development.

People with disabilities can be far removed from environmental concerns and sustainable development issues because of a lack of adapted support and a sometimes limited environment because of their disability.
However, they have the same needs as the common public of information and understanding of their environment, discovery of nature, the origin of their food ... in order to better control their consumption, to measure the impacts of their way of life on the environment…
They have also the same rights, the same duties and the same responsibilities in a perspective of sustainable development and eco-citizenship.

Summary :
This project aims to develop the knowledge of young people with disabilities (intellectual/mental disability) in terms of sustainable development and provide them with the necessary skills to become an active and responsible European eco-citizen.
The topics will be related to consumption and respect of the environment, especially concerning water, energy, food wastage, reduction of waste, through the exchange of experiences and observation of solutions implemented in the partner countries (for example, our territory is "zero waste" and we produce 3 times less waste than an average French).

This project will contribute to the awareness of young people about the effects of human action on the environment, the risks and consequences of non-respectful behavior of natural resources.
Through non-formal education and the organization of support activities, they will be encouraged to put into practice eco-actions that can have a positive impact and will lead to reflect on their power to change things as citizens at local and European level.

The objectives :
1. To provide participants with knowledge of the impacts of their lifestyle and human activity in general on the environment and to share practices implemented in each of the partner countries
2. To enable young people, through the use of non-formal education tools and methods, to discover whether they are influencing and impacting the environment.
3. To share, imagine and implement individual and collective actions to reduce the environmental impact of our activities in four areas: water, energy, food and waste.
4. To develop a sustainable culture and attitudes, reinforce critical thinking, initiative and sense of personal and social responsibility and participate in strengthening an eco-responsible European citizenship.
