Improving the resiliency of communities against disasters and pandemics in Europe through volunteering of trained youth

looking for research institutions, NGOs and humanitarian organizations working with young volunteers for a K205 project for the coming deadline

Project Aim:
The aim of the project is to develop resiliency of local communities in Europe and in Turkey against natural disasters and pandemics through increased awareness, abilities and voluntary participation of young people and of organizations working with them. The project aims to significantly contribute not only to the preparedness of young people themselves but also on the wellbeing of elderly people who are among the most vulnerable in cases of disasters and pandemics.
Objectives:
- To improve our current knowledge on the attitudes and behaviors of young people and humanitarian organizations working with them towards volunteering,
- To improve our current knowledge on the needs of the elderly people in disasters and pandemics,
- To develop training modules in order to train and prepare young people for protecting themselves and helping for the elderly in cases of disasters and pandemics,
- To increase abilities of young people for voluntary service towards elderly people,
- To develop and determine safe and secure processes of volunteering towards helping elderly people and other people in need,
- To increase the efficiency and management capacities of humanitarian organizations for involving and dealing with volunteers in cases of disasters and pandemics,
- To develop strategic cooperation among research institutions (universities), health and social service organizations, NGOs, local governments and other stakeholders that (may) work with young people in order to assist and service to the elderly.
- To improve preparedness and response capacities of organizations, experts, professionals and volunteering youth in cases of disasters and pandemics in EU countries and Turkey,
- To develop, implement and test training materials to serve increasing the resiliency of local communities in partnering organizations as well as in EU and Turkey.
