I'M NOT DANGEROUS, I'M IN DANGER!

The purpose of the project is to inform the EU citizens on the issues of immigration and reduce xenophobic prejudices. The main activity will be a youth exchange near a "Ghetto" in the south of Italy The aim is to increase young people's awareness about the coexistence in a multicultural society by providing tools to make them active participants in the dissemination of information, and thus sensitize their communities to stimulate the practice of active citizenship. Recognizing that xenophobia, racism and violent attitudes towards what is perceived as being different comes from the lack of knowledge, ignorance and inexperience we would like to provide information and increase awareness of young EU on immigration issues and hospitality. We intend to provide to the participants tools to inform and to learn about the issue of immigration with the aim of making them active subjects that will produce information and awareness in their home countries.

How: The methodology will be based on non-formal education. During the Youth Exchange, the participants will carry out a work programme (a mix of workshops, plenary debates, role-playing games, informative games / test to break down xenophobic prejudices, immigrates story-telling). It will be designed in a way to make use of the potential and experience of every single young participant in order to improve the level of their key competencies and skills.

Where: The Youth Exchange will take place in Italy in a symbolic place regarding the immigration issue.

Who: We are looking for 30 young people from countries that are characterized by restrictive policies in matter of receiving immigrates (Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina) in order to develop new social inclusion practices through the exchange with young people from countries that are living in the forefront of the immigrations crisis (Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain).
