I know my rights!

On the occasion of November 20, 2015, the World Day of the Rights of the Child, we opened our first virtual exhibition with the aim to disseminate children’ rights all over the world. Art, in its various forms of expression, is the best universal language. Art language is capable of incorporating imagination, thought and experience. The emotional sphere of the young artist leaves its trail, the visitor captures the resonance and begins to vibrate following the same emotion. This is what happened. We believe that it is a beautiful language without any doubt.
Children have been involved by adults. Adults explained to children their rights, trying to refrain from any judgments. The project is open to children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years. If children want to get involved, they just need to ask an adult to read the CRC and explain their rights or if they are big enough, they can read the children friendly version of the CRC.
They need to pick a right they particularly care of, and create their own artwork. They can paint, draw or make a sculpture of the right. Then, they need to take a picture at the artwork and send it via email.
Our final goals are to:
1. Disseminate children rights all over the world, making children aware that they have rights
2. Receive art works from children all over the world
However, we realised we cannot do everything by ourselves: therefore, we thought we could apply for an Erasmus + project in order to:
-providing training to youth leaders on children rights (on the EU guidelines for the promotion and protection of the rights of the child; EU guidelines on children and armed conflict; Child Rights Toolkit: Integrating child rights in development cooperation, UNCRC )
-share our experience in children oriented projects in Africa and Asia
-best practices: share our project Iknowmyrights to disseminate children rights through art
-train young Ambassadors on children rights and art basic skills in order to actively contribute to Iknowmyrights project
-Disseminate children rights all over the world and collect art works from children all over the world, therefore providing our Ambassadors basic skills in art
- create an easy APP as a tool for our Ambassadors for explaining children rights ( in order to avoid the usual power point presentation)
