Hero's journey

What does personal growth mean? It means that we are born with everything inside us, but we need to embark on a journey to rediscover it.

What does personal growth mean?

It means that we are born with everything inside us, but we need to embark on a journey to rediscover it. Human beings are naturally inclined to storytelling. We instinctively "frame" our life experiences in a sort of story or script, placing ourselves as the protagonists. These stories help us make sense of the world around us and of ourselves.

This issue touches young people directly, especially in this historical period still intrinsically connected with the Covid-19 epidemic.

This process helps young people first become aware of their own "narrative," of what they are telling themselves about their life and their environment. At that point, they will be guided to reformulate the narrative of their life along the lines of the hero's journey, through "restorying" interventions, thereby reducing negative emotions, potential depressive symptoms, and strengthening resilience.

The aim is to embrace a new narrative, setting stimulating goals to become the hero of their own story. A story that is chosen, not endured—a captivating one worth living.
