Raising young people's awareness around Europe's mining areas, and today's challenges on sustainable development
The aim of the project is to raise young people's awareness of the history and social, cultural, economic and environmental impact of Europe's mining areas, and to help them understand how rehabilitating this shared heritage contributes to strengthening intercultural ties, as well as acting in favor of the energy transition.
Specific objective of the project :
1. Raise young people’s awareness about mining areas’ history : explore the historical, social and cultural impact of mining in Pas-de-Calais and other European countries
2. Cross-cultural comparison : identify differences and similarities in mining practices, working conditions, social struggles and the consequences of industrialization in each country
3. Heritage preservation: highlight initiatives to preserve mining heritage and rehabilitation processes in former mining regions in Pas-de-Calais and abroad
4. Education for sustainable development : promote discussions on the reconversion of mining sites and the energy transition in relation to contemporary challenges
