HEALTH MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

PURPOSE:
Changes throughout the world, especially those within the last 30 years, have revealed the necessity of revising health services. After high technology products achieved a significant position in health services, there has been considerable increase in the quality and boundaries of services and the expectations of those who receive these services. To exemplify, in vitro fertilization, genetic studies, successful surgeries in many cases that were dismissed in the past due to inability to intervene and similar developments can be put forward. Such improvements in health services have also caused human life to be prolonged and the percentage of seniors within the world population to rise. While people became older, chronic and inevitable diseases/disorders escalated and the treatments for these led to an increase in costs (treatments of seniors are generally more expensive). Present-day healthcare executives bear the responsibility of an immense budget under the pressure of insufficient resources, rapidly developing technologies and consumerism. They are obliged to manage very complex institutions by harmonizing the operations of many professional or semi-professional personnel and auxiliary service staff from various distinct fields.
A healthcare executive is responsible for “ensuring the provision of health services to people through other people and in compliance with the designated objectives”. Providing maximum benefit in health services, which is one of the requirements of a social state, is also one of the main objectives. The sustainability of health services has given rise to a need for healthcare reforms. Therefore, healthcare executives should examine the management models of developed countries in the field of health services; and make effort for these to become broadly in our country as well.
In consideration of these, the purposes of this project are; increasing the administrative healthcare responsibilities of local healthcare executives, informing such persons on managerial and technical points, ensuring harmonization between them and reorganizing responsibilities and roles.
OBJECTIVES:
This project aims for healthcare executives and healthcare executive candidates to receive education and gain professional experience in European Countries with advanced technology and standards, applications in healthcare management to change for the better and European approach to be adopted in our country as well.
PROJECT AIMS:
- Examining modern healthcare management applications on the spot,
- Enable transfer and country-wide implementation of healthcare management applications at European standards in Turkey,
- Aiding in adoption of the European approach and development of cross-cultural change and communication,
- Improving the communication between healthcare executives at international level,
- Contributing to the career development of individuals who have obtained a master’s degree in the field of healthcare management and increasing possibilities of employment for such people.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
1) Providing language and culture education for those who will be examining modern healthcare management applications on the spot before such activity,
2) Examining modern healthcare management applications on the spot,
3) Producing printed materials (brochures, booklets, etc.) for European healthcare management applications to be transferred and implemented country-wide in Turkey,
4) Organizing local and regional seminars (country-wide implementation activity),
5) Forming communication platforms for experiences to be shared,
6) Sharing project output, experiences and healthcare management applications in the presence of our Ministry of Health.
EFFECTS OF THE PROJECT
Healthcare executives will examine modern healthcare management applications on the spot in Europe and contribute to increase in managerial skills and good application examples. The training and observations provided by the project will be integrated into an improved administration of the current health system and lead to effective and successful healthcare reforms. From the very phase of developing to the final phase of sustaining, training and informing executives on managerial and technical points will play an immense role in maximizing the total benefit and contributing to public health. In addition, such activities will also promote the development of a European approach, increase of international administrative communication, improvement in cross-cultural communication and reinforcement of health data in our country.

CONTRIBUTIONS EXPECTED FROM PARTNERS
1) Training of healthcare executives who will go abroad for examination of good practices and participants who have recently obtained a master’s degree in healthcare management within scope of the project,
2) Assessment and evaluation of the training provided to participants,
3) Awarding a participation certificate with international validity after the training received by participants,
4) Covering the accommodation expenses of the participants,
5) Providing cultural and social guidance for participants during the term they are abroad,
6) Providing professional guidance and continuous communication after activities,
7) Ensuring cooperation in making outcome of the project country-wide,
8) Contributing to formation of international connections and friendships.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
This project will be coordinated by Antalya Association of Public Hospitals.

BUDGET AND TERM;
The planned project term is 18 months. During the 18 months in which the project will be carried out, a total of 20 people who participate in our activity will receive a 4-week training and make observations in our institution.
