Grow up Knowing - GuK - Culture and diversity for Europe –

The project 's main objective is , through the meeting of young people from different territorial reality , the awareness of young people to be citizens and leaders of European growth . The fundamental action for the achievement of the main objective and that characterizes the project is the realization of an artistic and cultural exchange between young people from different countries in order to foster the development of joint reflection among young people , develop new synergies to promote common elements and promote diversity and to develop innovative activities. The youth exchange will take place in Vallefiorita in Calabria ( Italy ) with an expected life of 11 days (including travel days) and will involve a total , 30 young people from Turkey , Spain, and Italy.
During the event , participants will learn to work together and to discuss the creation of an intercultural project . They will also gain practical skills and improve communication skills. At the end of the project , they will have acquired the skills necessary for the implementation of regional and international projects and research on their own.
The main aims of the project are as follows:
- Create a series of reflections on the different cultural expressions ( customs, artistic events such as art , theater, cinema , etc. . , Facilitating joint activities of young people with cultural, ethnic and religious
different , with the aim to enrich the intercultural learning ;
- To promote an informal exchange on best practices for the study and knowledge in different cultural specificities ;
- Supporting the development of a European consciousness in the cultural / artistic awareness and stimulating reflection on the differences in cultures and values, and encouraging young people to challenge with respect and sensitivity points of view that perpetuate inequality and discrimination. They will then be activated intercultural working methods , to enable project participants to contribute on an equal basis .
- Develop an awareness of entrepreneurship in young people approaching the beneficiaries of the project to the institutional realities of marketing and entrepreneurial culture;
- Supporting education, training and culture for the development of excellence in its own territory .
In our activities , we will develop procedures and exercises to reinforce these skills : team-building , reliability , communication, intercultural competence , facilitation and creative thinking skills . The activities will be implemented with the support of non-formal learning methods and tools (games and exercises, group presentations , debates , role play , outdoor activities, team building ) focusing on the idea that the participants can learn by doing . This will also enable participants to acquire self-confidence to develop essential skills that will contribute to their social, professional and personal .
This exchange will not be an end in itself , but will feed in the organization, within the international festival "The Valley of the Stories " to be held in Vallefiorita in August 2014 in a series of activities in which the beneficiaries of the project will share their ideas.
