Practical, hands-on education in sustainable sports practices.
As climate change continues to pose significant threats to our planet, it is crucial to integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of society, including sports. This project recognizes that young people, especially those aged 18-25, are not only the future of athletics but also key drivers of environmental action.
Sports events and regular athletic activities often have a substantial environmental footprint, from energy consumption and waste generation to water usage and transportation emissions. Many young athletes and sports organizers lack awareness of these impacts and the knowledge to mitigate them. By bringing together young people from diverse European backgrounds, this project seeks to create a collaborative platform for learning, sharing ideas, and developing innovative solutions to make sports more environmentally friendly.
During the project, participants will experience significant growth in their knowledge and understanding of environmental issues related to sports. Through workshops, practical activities, and peer-to-peer learning, they will gain a comprehensive understanding of the environmental impact of sports activities and events. This increased awareness will not only broaden their perspective on sustainability but also empower them to think critically about their own athletic practices and those of their communities. The hands-on nature of the project ensures that this knowledge is not merely theoretical but practical and applicable in real-world scenarios.
