Green Changemakers: Youth-Led Climate Action in Local Communities

Green Changemakers empowers young people to co-create local climate solutions and engage directly with decision-makers through youth-led participation.

Participation Activities project that empowers young people to actively shape local climate and sustainability policies through inclusive, youth-led participation processes.

The project is built on the idea that young people should not only be consulted on environmental issues, but should be directly involved in identifying local climate challenges, developing realistic solutions, and presenting their ideas to decision-makers. Through a series of non-formal, participatory activities, young people will explore environmental issues affecting their communities—such as waste management, green mobility, climate awareness, and sustainable lifestyles—and transform their ideas into concrete local action proposals.

Special attention is given to the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, including NEETs and youth from rural or disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that diverse voices are represented in climate-related decision-making processes.

By strengthening green civic competences, fostering youth ownership, and promoting dialogue between young people and institutions, Green Changemakers contributes to more inclusive, participatory, and sustainable local communities while reinforcing young people’s role as active citizens in Europe.
