Green Bites – A Youth Journey into Plant-Based Living

An international youth exchange exploring plant-based living through dialogue, hands-on workshops and shared everyday experiences.

Green Bites is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that invites young people from different countries to explore plant-based lifestyles as a way to connect health, environmental awareness, and everyday decision-making. The project focuses on experience, dialogue, and intercultural learning, rather than promoting a single “right” way of eating. It encourages young people to explore, test, and reflect on their choices in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

The exchange responds to a growing interest among youth in sustainable living, healthy eating, and conscious lifestyle choices. At the same time, it acknowledges the social pressures, myths, and stereotypes often associated with plant-based diets. Instead of prescribing rules, Green Bites empowers participants to discover plant-based living through hands-on activities, discussions, and shared experiences.

Participants will engage in a variety of non-formal and participatory activities, including:
• Interactive panel discussions exploring different perspectives on plant-based living, health, and social experiences, opening space for dialogue.
• Workshops with a dietitian, addressing common myths, practical questions, and tips for balanced nutrition.
• Hands-on cooking sessions, where participants prepare simple, affordable, and culturally diverse plant-based meals.
• Practical activities around shopping and food choices, including reading labels, comparing products, and understanding accessibility in different countries.
• Community-based activities, such as a plant-based picnic, which combine social interaction, intercultural exchange, and practical learning.
• Discussion sessions on climate change and animal welfare, where participants explore the environmental impact of food systems, ethical considerations, and strategies for responsible choices.
• Reflection sessions and small-group discussions, focusing on personal boundaries, social pressures, stereotypes, and strategies for making conscious choices.

These activities support participants’ personal development, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, while fostering confidence and self-expression.

A key aspect of Green Bites is the international exchange, allowing participants to compare cultural approaches to food, sustainability, and social norms. Young people will learn from each other, share experiences, and explore different perspectives on plant-based living.

The project also emphasizes inclusion, diversity, and environmental awareness, aligning naturally with Erasmus+ transversal priorities. All participants, regardless of their background or dietary habits, are welcomed into a supportive and open space where experimentation, curiosity, and mutual respect are encouraged.

Green Bites promotes:
• Healthy and conscious lifestyle choices among youth
• Environmental awareness and sustainable practices
• Social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and community building
• Critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills

Following the exchange, participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and learning outcomes in their communities, through small workshops, online content, or peer discussions. By combining dialogue, practical learning, and community-building, Green Bites offers a meaningful international experience that empowers young people to make informed choices, respect diversity, and actively contribute to society, while exploring the potential of plant-based living.
