The Partner-Finding Tool
22 French and German footballers, supporters and theater artists worked together on a theater piece about the links between football and politics.
Football pitches and stands are places where people congregate and interact, groups are formed and debates take place above and beyond the subject of football. In the current context of crisis in our political institutions, representing these groups in the theatre is a way of looking for new ways to think about politics.
22 footballers, supporters and theatre artists are working together in Paris, Montreuil and Berlin on this theatre piece. As a group, they will create a new type of game, with new rules and ways to talk about the world, and through this bear witness to the different forms of organisation they practice in their artistic, political and sporting domains. This team is made up of players from the FSGT, la Fédération Française de Freestyle Ball, Deportivo Latino, Hansa 07, Discover Football and Tatane, P14 – Volksbuhne and GONGLE.
The creation of the piece is preceded by a period of research and ends, in February 2015, with a publication analysing the project both artistically and socially. The research spans a wide field from theatre shows, projections, debates, football matches to workshops. The GONLEG Footbol Germany-France is a place for theatrical and political experimentation, new encounters and festive occasions. The project is hosted by the Bethanien in Berlin, the 104 in Paris and the André Blain stadium in Montreuil.
