Global Citizen: Building Strong Identity in Times of Rapid Change and Global Challenges

Global Citizen: Building Strong Identity in Times of Rapid Change and Global Challenges - a youth exchange based in Sicily

Are you an active youth organisation, NGO, association, foundation, public body or informal group of young people passionate about global issues, citizenship, and youth engagement? We are seeking 4-5 committed partner organisations across EU Member States, third countries associated to the Erasmus+ Programme, and eligible neighbouring third countries not associated to the Programme (Regions 1–4) to join our upcoming Youth Exchange proposal exploring identity, interconnection, and collective action in a fast-changing world.

The Concept:
A Uniform World: Exploring how globalized culture (memes, cinema, English language, shared sports) shapes our daily lives and youth identity.
Deep Interconnection: Unpacking global supply chains, travel, instant news, and the "Butterfly Effect"—how local everyday decisions impact communities across the globe.
Shared Human Experiences: Recognizing that across borders, we face the same emotions, hopes, and systemic struggles.
Tackling Massive Challenges: Analyzing issues too big for one nation alone—climate change, AI ethics, famine, demographic changes.
Proof of Progress: Celebrating successful global cooperation (e.g., repairing the ozone layer, cross-border renewable energy, EU integration).
Local Action, Global Impact: Equipping participants with actionable steps to drive positive change in their home communities.
Why Palermo?
Palermo is a city shaped by centuries of cultural encounters, migration and exchange across the Mediterranean. Its diverse historical and social identity makes it a meaningful setting to explore what it means to belong locally while being connected globally.
