The Project "The Gernika Fellowship: Learning from experiences, youth as actors for non violent conflicto transformation and peacebuidlding”.
The Project "The Gernika Fellowship: Learning from experiences, youth as actors for non violent conflicto transformation and peacebuidlding” is a space of debate and Exchange in order to foster the active participation of the youth in a the non violent transformation of socio-political and intercultural conflicts. The meeting will be held in Gernika, Euskadi. The participants are youth Readers from the Basque Country, Spain and other European countries.
The themes to be discussed are:
-Cultural Diversity and democracy
-Conflicts and violence in modern societies
-Tools and strategies for a non violent conflicto transformation
-Role and participation of the youth in the promotion of a culture of peace and non violence.
-Best practices in the field of peace building through dialogue.
The meeting will be a one day event. The methodology will be as follow:
-In the morning: conferences and worshops directed by experts.
-Afternoon: This session will be dedicated to creating a space where the youth leaders and various experts could exchange on the best practices when it comes to peace building and conflict transformation.
Objectives.
Build the capacity of the youth equipping them with the necessary tools and skills, thus making them multipliers and peace agents in the communities and organizations. Promote the active participation of the youth
Reinforce the European citizenship
Promote intercultural dialogue
Promote and facilitate youth led actions for peacebuilding and conflicto transformation.
Create a network of youth organizations at the European level that will be envolve in projects Ahmed at promoting peaceful coexixtence, combat racismo, xenophobia anda ll forms of discrimination and exclusión.
The project is being made possible thanks to a support from the Department of Peace and Human Rights of the Basque Government. Due to budget dificulties we can only cover 50% of the international travel tickets.
