Gender Equality Matters – GEM Action

Let's break gender stereotypes - join us in shaping open-minded society and empowering youth who wants to contribute in this regard!

Despite a positive change in people’s perception on the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment, European society still has a lot to achieve in this regard. Discrimination according to gender has deep roots in established rules and practices of the societies. The form, volume and implications of such discrimination varies, thus, facilitating exchange of ideas and experience is the starting point to make a positive change. In this regard, youth exchange programme is the opportunity where participants can learn by doing, sharing and experiencing what gender equality means and how can they contribute in enhancing this value in their communities.
Awareness raising activities have proved to be a useful tool too stimulate people-to-people interaction while providing them with the basic information on the matter. In order to achieve society with the less gender stereotypes and to raise people’s awareness on the complexity of gender inequality, targeted actions are best ways to address the issue. Thus, the project aims to bring together young people from different countries and various experience who will have an opportunity to spend time discussing on the importance of gender equality, women’s empowerment and equal opportunities.

Objectives of the project:
• To discover the various understanding of gender roles as a social phenomenon;
• To raise awareness on the importance of gender equality;
• To identify circumstances leading to gender discrimination;
• To understand gender equality as a basic human value;
• To establish strong network of youth willing to work on gender equality matters.
