We aim to create a real change in European youth work by transforming the way youth workers use technology, games and pedagogical reflection.

Why this project
Non-formal education thrives on engaging, hands-on methods, and educational board games are among the most effective — but designing a good one from scratch is slow and resource-intensive for most youth organisations. Artificial intelligence can speed up ideation and prototyping considerably, provided youth workers know how to use it as a creative partner rather than a shortcut that replaces pedagogical thinking.
Aim
To equip youth workers with the practical skills to design original, competence-based educational board games using AI tools as a co-creation partner.
Specific objectives
• Build practical, hands-on AI literacy applied specifically to game design
• Produce a portfolio of playtested, ready-to-use educational board games
• Embed structured evaluation and Youthpass recognition into game-based learning sessions
Activities
• Ideation and design-thinking workshops
• AI-assisted prototyping labs
• Iterative playtesting with structured peer feedback
• Sessions linking games explicitly to Youthpass competences
• A closing games fair where all prototypes are tested together
Who should take part
Youth workers, trainers and educators active in non-formal education who want to strengthen their game-based learning practice.
Partner profile we are looking for
Youth organisations active in non-formal education. No prior experience with AI tools is required — the course is designed to build this from the ground up.
Expected results & indicators
• At least one educational board game co-created and playtested per partner delegation
• 80% of participants reporting increased confidence in designing competence-based learning activities (Youthpass self-assessment, before/after)
• A shared, open-access game portfolio distributed to all partner organisations after the mobility
EU priorities addressed: Digital transformation — AI literacy applied to non-formal education.
