GAME MAKERS: two-part training course where youth workers design educational games, playtest them at home, and publish a free print-and-play collection.
GAME MAKERS is a KA153 training course in two parts, for 25 youth workers from 8-10 European organisations (EU/associated countries), prepared by Asociația HESSA (Romania, OID E10316374) for the 1 October 2026 deadline.
Youth workers use games, but don't know how to build them: they take ready-made games that don't fit their group, or do surface gamification (points and badges over boring content). The distance between playing a game and designing the mechanics through which someone learns something is a real professional competence — almost absent from the training offer available to a youth worker in a small community.
The arc: TC1 (5 days, Romania) — the alphabet of educational game design: mechanics, dynamics, emotions, learning objectives; every participant leaves with a paper prototype built for their own youth group. Local phase (4-6 months) — 2-3 playtest sessions of 90 minutes with their real group, a one-page observation sheet per session, monthly online supervision. TC2 (5 days, Romania) — apply the feedback, finalise rules and layout, publish the whole collection as free print-and-play PDFs on SALTO Tools.
What we ask from partners: a described local youth group, the same 2 youth workers at both courses, written commitment to the playtest phase.
