Game Development Coaching

The purpose of game development coaching is to create a group of young adults aged 16-23 who are from rural area of Jyväskylä and are interested in video games or video game development and permit them a possibility for a new hobby.

The Game Development Coaching project makes game development possible for all young people. Creating this opportunity is important for preventing exclusion. Young people are in a weaker social position than others because the future is uncertain. The game development coaching project will create better opportunities for young people interested in the gaming industry to cope with life's challenges as their own skills, networks and self-confidence grow and strengthen.

Before the actual game development coaching project, a preliminary study project will be implemented. The purpose of this project is to find a partner and sign a letter of intent with the project actors in the partner country and write a plan for the actual project. The project organizes game development coaching workshops for educational institutions and various events, including during visits to partner countries.

During the pre-study project, young people's opinions and thoughts about the workshops and their wishes for the actual project are collected. In addition, interested young people are mapped according to the group activities of the actual project. Based on the ideas and feedback from the workshop days and the joint plan made with the project partner, an international Game Development Coaching project is planned and written. Short videos of the game development coaching workshops will be filmed for the marketing purpose of the project, for both young people and partners. The actual game development project will be implemented for the next project period.

Through international project activities, we aim to learn about game development methods in other countries. The actual game development project is planned and implemented in cooperation with the partner country. In this case, the countries are allowed to accept each other's observed methods for their own use, and the value of the project is greater than that of the national project. Planning meetings will be held in both partner countries during this project.
