Fusion Of Cultures

Our project is based primarily on one of the priorities of the Youth in Action program; Cultural Diversity, as it is intended to raise the awareness of young people towards other cultures and to support the dialogue and the intercultural meetings with those who come from different environments and cultures. From there we will focus on the acquisition of new knowledge, based on the impressive Artistic and Cultural Heritage of our city and region, where we will do a revision for all the stages of the history, since only in Estepa we have a great quantity of vestiges that its go from the Prehistoric epoch, passing the Roman period, Visigoth, Islamic and Moslem, up to Baroque and Rococo 18th century. This Heritage will offer to our young participants a vision of our culture, our history; the History is the most powerful intellectual tool that society possesses, it is not a dispassionate relation of events.
The purpose of this one is to explain the present, to say why the world that surrounds us is like is. The history tells us what is important in our world, and how it has managed to be. It tells us why the things that we value are the things that we must value. It is real power, a deep power. The power to define to the whole society. The future depends on the past.
This approximation to the history, treated always from a not formal learning, with an educational premeditation but out of the school area, is going to cause a social interaction and an attitude of respect towards the observation, enjoyment and conservation of our Heritage. How to get this? With a set of activities designed to motivate our young people and to learn of our past, with visits to Italic, Roman city and Roman theatre, the Mosque of Cordoba and the Alhambra of Granada, discovering the captivations Nazaríes, visit to the archaeological museum of Estepa and our particular "Sistine Chapel", as well as activities outdoors in the enclosure walled of our " Hill of St Cristobal ", between others.
