Financial Literacy for Young People

Financial education is the process by which we acquire financial knowledge and skills

Financial education is the process by which we acquire financial knowledge and skills in order to be able to read, analyze, manage, plan and respond competently to the day-to-day activities involving financial decisions. This is a continuous and sequential process should start in the early years of schooling and remain lifelong adapting to their specific needs.

The selection of students to compulsory education as program target audience is based on the idea, based on the literature, that financial literacy should be seen as an ongoing process and sequence, which should start in the early years of schooling, For it is then that citizens begin to form their concrete ideas and explanations for the reality around them and acquire the fundamental notions that will be explored and used more fully into adulthood. Expose children to the basic principles of economics will allow them to be better able to understand and apply these principles when confronted in adulthood, since the habits acquired during childhood are essential for life. Studies have shown that children and young people acquire financial habits and establish a healthy relationship with money benefit from greater stability and standard of living during adulthood. It is important to remember that children and young people of today will be the adults of tomorrow, economically active agents in our society and will be an active potential for financial institutions.

The intervention takes an educational, preventive and promotional. The program focuses on interactions, knowledge and promotional skills in order to prepare the subjects to deal healthily with money. E is designed based on the different needs of the school population and the content adapted to the different levels and years of education.
